Assemblyman Jose Peralta has won Tuesday’s special election for the 13th State Senate District.

He will now represent parts of Jackson Heights, East Elmhurst and Corona.

It was a heated race between Peralta and his main challenger, former State Senator Hiram Monserrate who ran as an Independent hoping to win back his old seat.

Monserrate was expelled from the senate last month following a misdemeanor assault conviction for dragging his girlfriend.

Lost in the shuffle was Republican Robert Beltrani. An Administrative Law Judge, Beltrani billed himself as a political outsider who was not caught up in the dysfunction of Albany.

We are just over a month away from our New York State Gubernatorial election and still no debate between leading candidates Andrew Cuomo and Carl Paladino. How is the voting public to decide which candidate is best for them if we can’t even have one public debate. A debate with popular questions posed by the public and the moderator broadcasted to the public on TV, radio and web would better inform the public on where the candidates stand on important issues pertaining to OUR future in New York State. Even better would be a series of debates in 3 regions of New York (i.e. NYC, WNY & Albany area). Our political system in New York has been high jacked for too long. Have you ever wondered what you could do to get your voice heard? Well, here is a start. Please share this message with fellow New Yorkers. Join the group, petition the candidates by the numbers in our group.
