As she tries to shore up support for her election bid, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has reportedly received the backing of one of the country’s most powerful Democrats.
Former President Bill Clinton is supporting Gillibrand’s election, according to the Daily News.
The paper cites a Clinton aide, who says the former president thinks Gillibrand is doing a good job.
Gillibrand was appointed to fill Hillary Clinton’s seat after she was named secretary of state.
As secretary of state, Clinton cannot endorse a candidate.
Gillibrand has been fending off attacks from former Tennessee Congressman Harold Ford, who is considering whether to challenge her in a primary this fall.
