The investigation into a non-profit run by State Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada reveals violations.

An affidavit filed today by State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo says a nine-month probe into a Bronx clinic founded by Espada shows apparent violations of New York’s not-for-profit corporation law.

The violations cited in the affidavit include sharing money with a for-profit corporation and using funds from the clinic for Espada’s personal benefit.

Cuomo has already subpoenaed the Soundview Health Care Network to release financial records.

The affidavit filed today is an effort to bring about a court order to force the clinic to actually answer the subpoena.

Espada has long denied any guilt and maintained that the clinic is a vital health care resource in an undeserved community.
