The federal corruption trial of former State Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno is scheduled to start Monday.
The 80-year-old Republican is accused of collecting $3.2 million over 13 years for helping businesses win contracts and grants with state agencies.
Bruno has maintained his innocence.
He faces up to 20 years in prison and a maximum of $250,000 in fines — for each of the eight counts against him.
Bruno resigned from office in July 2008 after 32 years in the State Senate, but said the federal investigation was not a factor in his decision to step down.
