A state senator’s husband disputes a claim that he was driving without a valid license.
Police say Martin J. Oppenheimer, the husband of Suzi Oppenheimer, got dizzy Sunday and drove into a utility pole near the Rye Golf Club. He was taken to a hospital with neck pain.
Police ticketed him. However, Rye Mayor Steve Otis, who is also the senator’s chief of staff, said later that Martin Oppenheimer does have a valid license.
In 2003, Martin Oppenheimer admitted parking a car bearing New York Senate license plates in handicapped spots at a Mamaroneck health club when no other spaces were available.
Oppenheimer, who’s an attorney, said he was unaware that was illegal. He was not ticketed then.
