Those are some of the ideas Mayor Michael Bloomberg is including in his campaign’s transit policy. Bloomberg unveiled the proposal on Monday.
The plan also calls on the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to reinstitute some express subway service and get countdown clocks in subway stations up and running.
Democratic mayoral candidate Bill Thompson’s campaign said the plan is full of “empty promises.” The campaign pointed out that MTA fares have risen under Bloomberg.
The MTA said it welcomed the input. The agency said it looked forward to working with elected officials to improve efficiency and to making sure it got the needed funding.
