Posted by David Paterson is choosing one of his deputy secretaries to take over as director of state operations.
Valerie Grey will start in the job Monday at a salary of $176,000 a year.
Grey has been first deputy secretary to the governor since April 2009, working on policy and operations for the executive office.
In her new job, she’ll be in charge of making sure state agencies are following the governor’s agenda.
Grey worked previously as the assistant deputy secretary for Health and Human Services.
She’s replacing Dennis Whalen, who resigned.
The appointment doesn’t require Senate confirmation.
