Geraldine A. Ferraro, who in 1984 became the country’s first female vice-presidential nominee from a major party, endorsed Leslie Crocker Snyder on Tuesday in the race for Manhattan district attorney, saying her election would be an inspiration to girls.
“I think every time a woman gets elected to office it is important,” Ms. Ferraro said on Tuesday during a news conference on the steps of City Hall. “It does make a difference on how they deal with issues that affect woman. It’s also very important for little girls to be able to say, ‘I want to be a lawyer,’ and then say, ‘I want to be D.A. just like Leslie Crocker Snyder.’”
