Posted by Reverend Al Sharpton and his National Action Network are facing a nearly $300,000 fine for violating federal election rules during his 2004 presidential bid.
The Federal Election Commission reportedly says Sharpton’s campaign accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions from private sources.
As a result, Sharpton and his organization will have to pay a $285,000 penalty.
The New York Post says the FEC found the campaign kept poor records and took funds from the organization — all of which violate the Federal Election Campaign Act.
A spokeswoman for the National Action Network says the fine was originally $500,000 and it was reduced when the FEC learned the facts.
She says the settlement clearly states there is no evidence of criminality or intentional wrongdoing by Sharpton’s organization.

It’s good to hear that Sharpton and his organization are being watched. I hope this is just the beginning. A good thorough investigation of Sharpton, his lying, and his intimidation needs to be done.
