Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said on Monday that his administration is reviewing the circumstances of a romantic relationship between New York City’s finance commissioner and a woman who once worked as an assistant commissioner in her department, possibly raising conflict of interest issues.
“These are serious charges, and we’re looking at them,” Mr. Bloomberg said during an appearance in Arlington, Va.
The finance commissioner, Martha Stark, acknowledged through her spokesman that she is dating a former subordinate, but said the relationship began after the woman, Dara Ottley-Brown, left the Department of Finance in 2006.
