Property tax rebate checks are almost ready to be sent out.
According to The New York Post, the city finance department plans to start mailing the checks on Monday, which means most homeowners will receive their payment sometime around New Year’s Day.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg had proposed canceling the checks due to the city’s growing budget deficit.
A budget deal reached last week between the mayor and the city council preserved the checks, though it included a property tax hike.
