The problems keep mounting for embattled Harlem Congressman Charlie Rangel.
The New York Post is reporting the powerful politician has been breaking congressional rules by using the House of Representatives’ parking lot to store his 1972 Mercedes Benz.
The paper says the car does not have license plates and its registration expired in 2004. House Rules forbid storing cars in the garage for more than 45 days. A congressional website says free parking is considered income that must be reported.
Rangel is already under fire for a number of tax problems – including his failure to pay thousands of dollars in taxes on income earned on a villa in the Dominican Republic.
He has hired an accounting firm that will sort out his finances and report to the House Ethics Committee.
