Elected Officials Urge Developer To Pay Legal Bills

A number of local elected officials are calling on the developer Tishman Speyer to pay the legal bills of Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village tenants whom Tishman wrongly accuses of breaking rent-stabilization rules. New York State Senator Tom Duane and President of Manhattan Scott Stringer joined City Council member Daniel Garodnick, who authored a letter to the developer proposing a new set of rules which he says would cut down on the number of residents Tishman accuses of not living full-time in rent-stabilized apartments.
