Republicans in State Senate are Blasted for Ending Session Despite Unfinished Business

June 27, 2008

Two Democratic State Senate candidates are criticizing the Republican incumbents for ending the legislative session with unfinished business.

Democrat Rick Dollinger is challenging Republican Joe Robach in the 56th State Senate district. The legislative session came to an end this week, but Dollinger says the State Senate accomplished nothing.

Dollinger says New York started the year with incredible financial hurdles, including skyrocketing property taxes and job losses. He says the State Senate left Albany with too much on the table.

Dollinger was joined by fellow-Democrat David Nachbar who had similar criticism for his opponent, Republican State Senator Jim Alesi. Both Democrats say the Republican-controlled State Senate should have dealt with a property tax cap, paid family leave, IDA reform, and campaign finance reform.

Nachbar says no one should leave when there’s so much work to be done.
