Brooklyn DA’s No. 2 exiled after clash
June 12, 2008
A top prosecutor was demoted after a blowup with a high-ranking executive over his handling of a steroids probe - and allegations he had an affair with an assistant, the Daily News has learned.
Kyle Reeves, 50, once District Attorney Charles Hynes’ No. 2 trial assistant, was transferred from rackets to a gun unit two weeks ago, just after winning a major murder conviction.
“I really can’t say anything about it,” said Reeves, who has prosecuted 117 homicides.
Reeves’ assistant also was taken off the case, but supporters say the affair allegations were bogus.
They contend the demotion was really connected to a steroids probe involving as many as 27 NYPD officers.
Reeves and his boss, Monique Farrell, clashed over strategy and witnesses.
Hynes had no comment.
