David Paterson will become the 55th Governor of NY, Bruno acting Lt Governor
March 12, 2008
As former Governor Eliot Spitzer becomes part of New York political history he leaves behind a record of hard dealing in Albany, terrorizing high profile Wall Street firms and the titans who control them, scandals against his political enemies, low approval ratings, and now spending lavishly on high end escorts, which has ended his skyrocketing political career and some say his future plans for a White House bid. Spitzer’s demise ushers in Lt. Governor David Paterson as the new Governor of New York and making history as the first African American to hold the position joining the ranks of Charles Rangel and former Mayor David Dinkins of prominent black political figures.
Spitzer’s resignation also turns the tables on his once political foe Joseph Bruno who was at one point lately seemed a weak figure in Albany and becoming a liability to the Republican party. Now Bruno will become acting Lt. Governor and one step from a position which would forge a legacy of his long political career and revive him and his party.

Patterson will give his long time homonym, Frank Padavan, a chance for redemption, after Padavan was repeatedly jitled for a commissionership under Pataki and Giuliani. Padavan prides himself as a party-less independent, and has been under increasing thret from his traditional constituents because of his opposition to their dormitory and their feudal zoning casuistry. Given how he was ostensibly denied commissionerships in order to preserve the majority, he relishes this unique opportuntiy at payback.
