Mayor Unveils Campaign To Promote Child Care Tax Credit

Mayor Michael Bloomberg launched a citywide advertising campaign to inform families about the new Child Care Tax Credit, which was signed into law last summer.
Under the plan, families making less than $30,000 a year can get up to $1,733 toward health care for children under the age of four.
Posters, such as the one Bloomberg unveiled at his annual Women’s History Month celebration, can now be seen at bus stops and pay phones around the city.
Bloomberg says the credit can be a real help to working mothers, because it allows them to work full time and still take care of their children.
“As we all know sometimes the cost of child care discourages mothers of young children from holding full time jobs and we don’t think that should be the case,” said Bloomberg.
Families can still file for the tax credit.
