Governor Announces Special Elections for 48th and 22nd

January 25, 2008

Governor Eliot Spitzer today announced two special elections. The first will be held in the 48th Senate District in Jefferson, Oswego and St. Lawrence counties. This vacancy was created by the resignation of Senator James W. Wright.

The second special election will be held to fill a vacancy in the Office of County Legislator in the 22nd Legislative District in Oneida County. This vacancy was created by the failure to elect any person to this office because the 2007 general election resulted in a tie vote.

The special elections are scheduled for February 26, 2008.
