Will a Hillary loss damage her in NY?

January 8, 2008

With a potential loss in the primaries and the pending loss of the democratic nomination to Barack Obama will Hillary Clinton have any power left to be re-elected to Junior Senator of New York? A loss would enviably lead to less money from her big ticket supporters and a shift in a political climate in Washington. Would Barack Obama or the Republican candidate front runner take her on their cabinet. Probably not. Most candidates that lose their party nominations are often regulated to obscure positions within Washington or in their party’s. Will this be Hillary’s fate?

Maybe, maybe not. Stars that burn bright often burn out. John Kerry, Bob Dole, Howard Dean to name a few are all still on capitol hill but we rarely ever hear from them with the exception of rallying their core supporters. But no one has the polar effect that the Clinton’s have had.

While were not predicting she’s out of the Presidential race her future is looking politically bleak. As she gets casted as the Washington insider and a candidate that has voted for the war consistently her record on the hill and in New York politics will be in full focus come re-election.

Republican’s will smell blood for the junior’s senators seat and take full advantage that she dedicated most of her term to raising money and stumping in other states instead of looking out for New Yorkers.
